Level Crossing Removals Caulfield to Dandenong An Innovative Elevated Rail Solution

The $1.6B Caulfield to Dandenong Project is removing 9 dangerous and congested level crossings between Caulfield and Dandenong and paving the way for a 42% capacity uplift on Melbourne’s least reliable rail corridor through a complete signalling and traction power upgrade to accommodate the new High Capacity Metropolitan Train.

Key design team members from the CTD Alliance will present on the design development of the viaduct structure, stations and the rail systems which form part of the overall project.

They will cover the technical challenges of designing a 4km long rail viaduct to be built alongside an operational railway and the challenges of developing the rail systems in parallel with the design and procurement of the new trains which will run on it.
The presentation will also cover the design of the elevated stations and the urban design and placemaking opportunities presented by the elevated rail solution.
