Learn about the Mernda Rail Extension project, from its design and construction to the challenges that delivery partners are facing
The Mernda Rail Extension Project is an 8km extension of the existing South Morang line to Mernda. The scope includes three new stations, train stabling facilities, sections of elevated rail and excavation through rock under two main roads.
The Level Crossing Removal Authority (LXRA) is delivering the project on behalf of Public Transport Victoria and has recently let a design and construct contract to John Holland, with KBR as designers. Construction is due to commence shortly.
