Why now is an exciting time for rail
AusRAIL PLUS opens in Melbourne, 24 – 26 November
The world’s leading authorities in rail will gather in Melbourne on 24 – 26 November to discuss the latest developments, and hear from government leaders, local and international rail industry executives and academics. Hosted in Melbourne for the first time since 2008, AusRAIL PLUS is set to be the largest AusRAIL ever staged, with a record number of speakers and exhibitors this year.
Each year, Australia’s rail network transports 1.3 billion tonnes of freight and every day 2.3 million passengers use trains, and experts taking part in AusRAIL PLUS will share why now is an exciting time in rail, particularly for passengers and investors.
“There’s an investment in public transport, and a realisation that cities are growing, and they need to have rail infrastructure,” saysMelbourne Metro Chief Executive Andrew Lezala. “In Victoria, we’ve got big metro trains – seven car vehicles in a metro- style operation and the Metro Tunnel, in Sydney we will see the light rail construction, work on the new Metro line and the first driverless passenger train in the country, and in Brisbane, we’re about to see the first Public Private Partnership train.”
Victorian Premier, the Hon. Daniel Andrews MP will address delegates at the event, followed by the Federal Minister’s Address by The Hon. Warren Truss MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development. They will cap off more than 40 seminars and forums by rail suppliers, industry experts and transport CEOs.
More than 450 exhibitors will be at the event including: UGL, Bombardier, John Holland, CSR Corporation (China), Bradken, Lockheed Martin and BP Australia.
Attendance at AusRAIL PLUS Melbourne exhibition is free and open to any business and professional with a rail interest. You can register your place at the event online here.
