Young Railway Engineer Award 2015

THERE ARE TWO RECIPIENTS OF THE 2015 RTSA YOUNG RAILWAY ENGINEER AWARD, BEING: MR. DAVID LAW AND MS. ESTHER WARREN

Mr. David Law is a Senior Rail Engineer and Project Manager with GHD in Brisbane. He has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from Queensland University of Technology. His achievements include obtaining Chartered Status with Engineers Australia and recognition as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland within 6 years of graduating. David has been the lead rail engineer and assistant design manager for several projects in Queensland over the past 5 years. David has developed a technical excellence for many key aspects of rail design including track, civil, drainage, geotechnical, and rail system solutions. He has passed on these skills and knowledge to young engineers as a mentor with GHD.

Ms. Esther Warren is a Civil Project Engineer with John Holland in Melbourne. She has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with honours from the University of Canterbury, and  a Diploma in Project Management from the University of New England. Esther is a member of the RTSA and is a Chartered member of Engineers Australia. Esther was a key figure for the Regional Rail Link – City to Maribyrnong River Project in her role as the Occupation Planner. She has made an outstanding contribution to the rail industry through her involvement with the wider rail community, including being an ambassador for Engineers Australia as well as her role in diversity programs to attract, develop and retain women in the rail industry. Esther has also been a mentor for graduates during her role on the Regional Rail Link Project. In 2014, Esther was the inaugural winner of the Young Rail Engineer Award at the Australasian Rail Industry Awards Dinner.
