NZ Chapter Event: Rolling Stock Asset Services South Island Locomotive Procurement
February 17 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm NZDT
KiwiRail, as the manager and operator of New Zealand’s national rolling stock fleet, is dependent on reliable assets to support the goal of delivering profitable and cost-effective freight and passenger services. In order to achieve these and other safety-related organisational goals, appropriate prioritisation of capital investment into rolling stock procurement is essential to ensure that the assets remain fit for purpose and operate within acceptable engineering safety limits.
The KiwiRail rolling stock asset services team has developed a HPHE consultative method of procuring rolling stock assets, unique in New Zealand. This process has been undertaken for the procurement of new South Island locomotives to replace the existing DX fleet.
This procurement represents one part of a series of asset renewals that KiwiRail is undertaking over the next few years to renew rolling stock and facilities across the country.
