RTSA NSW Chapter Event (Webinar) – New York City Subway Modernisation

September 15, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm UTC+10

The New York City Subway, operated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), is the ninth-busiest rapid transit system in the world and moves over 5.5 million people through the city daily. This presentation will look at the MTA’s unprecedented investment to modernise the outdated signalling system and move towards Communications Based Train Control (CBTC), along with some of the unique challenges that the New York City Subway faces (aging infrastructure, 24-hour service, politics), as well as some of the innovative solutions that NYCT is investigating to help overcome these challenges.
