WA Chapter Event: Thornlie Cockburn link Kenwick tunnel site visit
October 18 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm AWST
FreeOverview
Get an exclusive glimpse into the transformative Thornlie-Cockburn Link infrastructure project in Perth, Western Australia, designed to create the city’s first east-west cross-line connection.
This project will connect the Mandurah and Armadale-Thornlie lines, enhancing public transport accessibility in Perth’s south-eastern suburbs and supporting future development in the area.
The primary focus of our site visit will be the Kenwick tunnel, a crucial component of the Thornlie-Cockburn Link project. This tunnel, constructed nearly 20 years ago, requires significant revitalisation to meet current design standards and safety requirements.
Key project features include:
- a new rail line connecting Thornlie Station to Cockburn Central Station
- construction of two new stations: Nicholson Road and Ranford Road
- upgrades to existing Thornlie, Cockburn Central, and Stadium stations
- creation of approximately 1,680 jobs
- improved access to employment and recreation opportunities
