SUMMARY:Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance for Project Managers
DESCRIPTION:Join the RTSA WA Chapter in person in Perth and online for a presentation on Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance for Project Managers. \n📅  5:00-7:30pm (AWST) Tuesday 10th November\n🌏  In-person (Engineers Australia Perth) and Online\n🎟️  Register on the Engineers Australia website: Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance for Project Managers | Engineers Australia \nEvent Overview\nThe session will provide a high-level overview of key Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance concepts\, including the Rail Safety Assurance Framework\, Systems Engineering Framework\, Systems Engineering lifecycle processes\, and the V-Model. A key focus of the session will be the relationship between project management and systems engineering. Attendees will learn how SESA supports project planning\, risk management\, quality management\, stakeholder engagement\, schedule development and work breakdown structures. The presentation will further explore how the application of Systems Engineering principles can reduce project risk\, improve communication and information clarity\, increase the likelihood of successful project delivery\, and minimize the potential for schedule delays and cost overruns. Through practical rail industry examples\, participants will gain a clearer understanding of how Project Managers and Systems Engineers can work together to deliver safe\, reliable and efficient transport infrastructure projects. \nThis session will be beneficial for generally everyone\, especially Project Managers and Graduate Engineers\, as this session offers exposure to Systems Engineering principles and practices. \nProgram timeline (AWST): \n\n17:00 – Doors open\n17:30 – Presentations start (online start)\n18:30 – Presentations end\, open to questions (online end)\n18:45 – Formalities finish\, informal networking open\n19:30 – Event close\n\nLearning Outcomes\n\nHow Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance (SESA) support the successful delivery of rail and transport projects while balancing safety\, quality\, schedule\, and cost objectives.\nThe fundamentals of the Rail Safety Assurance Framework\, Systems Engineering Framework\, Systems Engineering lifecycle processes\, and the V-Model\, including their application across the project lifecycle.\nHow Systems Engineering practices such as requirements management\, verification and validation\, configuration management\, and system integration contribute to improved project outcomes and risk reduction.\nHow Project Managers can effectively collaborate with Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance practitioners to improve project planning\, quality\, risk management\, schedule performance\, and cost control.\n\nPresenter\nMiran Mukerji (CPEng\, NER)\nTechnical Executive\, Systems Engineer at WSP \nMiran Mukerji is a Technical Executive Systems Engineer with extensive experience in systems engineering and safety assurance.
