DESCRIPTION:Join the RTSA NZ Chapter online for a presentation on The Future of Rail in New Zealand presented by Michael van Drogenbroek at 12:00-1:00pm NZST on Wednesday 15th June. \nClick here to register. \nPresentation\nJoin us and Michael van Drogenbroek\, to share an overview of the opportunities and challenges associated with developing and delivering inter-regional and long distance passenger rail services across a more ambitious New Zealand. \nHe will draw on his experience of strategic\, rail and public transport planning at Etihad Rail in the UAE\, the Department of Transport in Victoria\, Australia as well as over 25 years work at Kiwi Rail and its predecessors. The presentation will examine some of the history\, the current state and potential future approaches to developing these rail services including possible future networks and how they may be delivered. He will outline why it has been a struggle to maintain the services we had\, what the challenges (eg. the Key Success Factors required) are to re-establishing services and what future service developments for rail and other inter-regional public transport could look like. He will also suggest some of the technical challenges that need to be looked at by the industry as this is considered. \nPresenter\nMichael van Drogenbroek\nTransport Consultant/Advisor\, Heriot-Edievale Ltd \nMichael is a Transport Consultant / Advisor at Heriot-Edievale Ltd with 30 years plus experience. Currently he is working with clients on rail\, public transport and freight projects both in NZ and various overseas jurisdictions including the Middle East.
