SUMMARY:RTSA - Qld Chapter Event - Normanton to Croydon Railway - EA's Heritage Recognition Program
DESCRIPTION:Normanton to Croydon Railway – The Track Ceremony \nThe railway line Normanton to Croydon in North Queensland built in 1891 utilised a radical departure from established practice in the building of pioneer railways. It was recently recognised under Engineers Australia’s Heritage Recognition Program. \nThe event will recognize the innovative work of George Phillips in the design and construction of the Normanton to Croydon Rail line in North Queensland in 1891.  An replica interpretative panel will be unveiled which will celebrate the engineering heritage value of this pioneering rail line.  There will be a brief presentation on the technical aspects of the work of George Phillips and the challenges he had to address to achieve the construction of the last isolated line of Queensland Rail still in use today.  There will be a display of the highlights of a ceremony held in Normanton to celebrate this achievement. \nKey Speaker(s):  Andrew Barnes and Allan Churchward \nNote:  This event is co-hosted with Engineering Heritage\, Queensland \nLight refreshments will be available at the conclusion of this ceremony.

SUMMARY:RTSA - Qld Chapter Seminar: Multiple Unit Traction Motor Bearing Failure Analysis
DESCRIPTION:Queensland Rail aims to be Australia’s best performing railway\, delivering safe\, on time\, customer-focused and efficient rail services.  To achieve this\, traction motor bearing failure is being investigated to determine how and when rolling element bearings are likely to fail.  Traction motor bearing failure has previously been unpredictable on Queensland Rail rolling stock and can contribute to service delays or cancellations.  Therefore\, engineers at Queensland Rail are developing techniques to diagnose and predict rolling element bearing failure through vibration condition monitoring. \nOur keynote speakers will be Voon Wong\, Andrew Roche and Rachel Quarman from Queensland Rail Operating Assets Engineering who were all directly involved with the project. They will provide you with an insight into the project\, the processes they used\, and the progress of the analysis on traction motor bearings. \nClick on link below to register.
