SUMMARY:RTSA VIC/TAS PRESENTATION - RAILWAY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM
DESCRIPTION:Our June Presentation is on Railway Energy Storage System by Ian Cook Power Modelling Specialist from MTM \nAustralia’s first 1500 Volt DC Railway Energy Storage System is being installed in Melbourne. It is being installed by the North East Project Alliance for the Hurstbridge Line Upgrade Project at Diamond Creek. \nIt has been chosen as an opportunity to meet the Project Requirements\, but at a reduced cost to the State. \nEnergy Storage Systems can be used in many ways to improve deficiencies in the Traction Power System and to reduce the energy consumption. On the Project\, it has an element of both. It is to store the excessive regenerative braking energy that has been modelled to be available when the train braking\, and release it back to the train when it departs from the station\, in order to boost the traction acceleration voltage. \nIt is an innovative and sustainable solution for the Melbourne railway network\nIan Cook is a Traction Power Modelling Specialist of Metro Trains Melbourne. Ian has many years of experience working on the Melbourne Traction Power System. He is one of the most senior traction power engineers in Victoria. Ian has been participated in most major projects planning & strategy for Victoria traction power system.\nThis presentation will cover the fundamental and needs of an Energy Storage System for the railway network\, also discussion on the future opportunities and strategies to implementation the Energy Storage System for Melbourne railway network \n  \nRegistration Closes\n07 / 06 / 2018 – 5:30 pm\n\nCost\nRegistration\nEA and RTSA Member Rate: $0.00 ($0.00 excl.
