DESCRIPTION:Join the RTSA New Zealand Chapter online for a discussion on the new Level Crossing Risk Management Guide (LCRMG) V6 guide\, developed collaboratively by the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA)\, Local Roading Authorities and KiwiRail. \n📅  12:00pm – 1:00pm Tuesday 11th August\n🌏  Online\n🎟️  Level Crossing Risk Management Guide V6: A summary of the significant changes \nPresentation overview\nThis revised edition reflects a unified\, industry-wide approach to the assessment and management of level crossing risk\, providing a consistent framework that is tailored to the New Zealand operating environment. \nThe guide incorporates current industry best practice and promotes a collaborative approach to identifying\, assessing\, and managing risks at level crossings. By establishing a common methodology\, it enables road and rail stakeholders to make informed\, transparent\, and evidence-based decisions regarding level crossing safety\, investment priorities\, and risk mitigation measures. \nA key principle of the LCRMG Version 6 is the application of the ‘So Far As Is Reasonably Practicable’ (SFAIRP) framework. This ensures that risk reduction measures are implemented to the extent that is reasonably practicable\, taking into account the balance between the level of risk and the effort\, time\, and cost required to mitigate that risk. \nImportantly\, the guide recognises that level crossing safety is a shared responsibility. Effective management of level crossing risk requires ongoing collaboration between KiwiRail\, Road Controlling Authorities\, NZTA\, and other relevant stakeholders. Through shared accountability and coordinated decision-making\, the guide aims to improve safety outcomes\, optimise the allocation of resources\, and support the long-term reduction of risk across New Zealand’s level crossing network. \nPresenter\nEddie Cook has been involved in the Road/ Rail safety engineering field for over 30 years. Eddie has extensive technical and practical knowledge of Level Crossing Risk Assessment processes. Eddie is Kiwirail’s recognised Subject Matter Expert for Level crossing Risk and the ALCAM (Australian Level rossing Assessment Model). \nGareth Williams is a Rail Safety and Assurance Manager with Auckland Transport. Gareth recieved a Lifetime Achievement Award at the New Zealand Rail Conference following a career in rail safety with Transdev and KiwiRail.

SUMMARY:Great River City Light Rail (Parramatta) Depot Site Visit
DESCRIPTION:Join the RTSA NSW Chapter and Transdev for a site tour of the Great River City Light Rail (GRCLR) Depot and a brief summary of the network operations and asset management for Parramatta Light Rail. \n📅  11:00am – 12:30pm Wednesday 26th August\n🌏  Parramatta Light Rail Depot (4 Grand Avenue\, Rosehill  NSW 2142)\n🎟️  Registration information coming soon (limited to 20 participants)\n👷‍♀️  BYO PPE\n🚗 NO parking available on site \nTransdev are hosting a site visit for RTSA members at their GRCLR Depot which operates and maintains the Line 4 Parramatta light rail network.  The site visit will include a brief presentation on the operations and asset management of the network\, followed by a tour of the depot facility including the offices\, OCC and Maintenance Workshop. \nPlease note that this is a live operating railway and visitors must obey all instructions.  Also note that this visit may be cancelled at short notice due to operational circumstances requiring priority attention. \nFor any queries please contact: nsw@rtsa.com.au \nLearning Outcomes\nYou will gain an introduction and understanding of the operations and maintenance functions carried out on the Parramatta Light Rail network. \n PPE Requirements\n👷‍♀️All attendees must wear full site gear\, including: \n\n Steel cap boots\n Long pants\n Collared long-sleeve shirts\n Orange safety vests – (NSW rail compliant with an x on the back)\n Clear Safety glasses\n Gloves\n Helmets/Bump Camp\n\nThere is also a zero drug & Alcohol requirement.
