About the event

Andy will share an overview of the opportunities and challenges associated with delivering rail infrastructure projects in a way which is more closely aligned with rail customer requirements. He will draw on his experience of planning rail passenger services in the UK for ScotRail in collaboration with Network Rail (the UK rail infrastructure authority) and with other passenger and freight rail operators. The presentation will outline some of the different approaches which were used to drive better outcomes, and consider their applicability to the New Zealand rail industry as infrastructure works increase and customer expectations become increasingly challenging to meet.

Speaker

Andy Lightowler is a Technical Director in Beca’s Transport Advisory team,  based in the Auckland office. He emigrated to New Zealand in 2009 after a 20-year career in the UK bus and rail industries  as a consultant specialising in public transport planning and business case projects
