Graduate Award 2013

THE 2013 INAUGURAL RTSA GRADUATE ENGINEER AWARD HAS BEEN MADE TO TWO RECIPIENTS; MS. MICHELLE TAN AND MR. RAPHAEL CHAGELLIS.

Ms. Michelle Tan is a Graduate Rail Engineer with AECOM in Perth. She is a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and Commerce (Honours) from the University of Western Australia and, since joining AECOM, she has worked on a number of high profile rail projects. Ms. Tan is pursuing Chartered Engineer accreditation, has been a member of the RTSA Western Australia Chapter Committee since 2011 and a Committee member of Engineers without Borders since 2010. As an AECOM Graduate Committee member, Ms. Tan has organized and facilitated a variety of graduate development and social events together with preparing a technical paper entitled “Viable low cost solutions for attracting and retaining graduates within the rail industry”.

Mr. Raphael Chagellis is a Graduate Civil Engineer with Kellogg Brown and Root in Sydney who he joined following his graduation from the University of Wollongong with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Honours) degree. Since joining KBR, Mr. Chagellis predominantly has been involved with the Trackwork Services Alliance (TSA) with whom he has responsibility for the design of turnout renewals from concept through to the detailed design as well as providing support to the TSA construction team with a keen interest in safety. He is the coordinator of the KBR graduate and young professional development program and he is working towards Chartered Professional Status.
