THE WINNER OF THE 2015 RTSA GRADUATE ENGINEER AWARD IS MS. JENNIFER AITON

Ms. Jennifer Aiton has a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with Honours and Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in management and human resource management and was the winner of the RTSA Railway Engineering Student Thesis Award in 2013 for her undergraduate thesis ‘Improving the Intermediate Operational Performance to Perth’s Joondalup and Mandurah Rail Lines under the Current Scenario using Micro-Simulation”

Jennifer worked with the Public Transport Authority for two years in railway strategy, performance analysis and operations, where she was heavily involved in analysis for future train services & signalling capacity. Jennifer is a committee member for the WA Chapter RTSA chapter and has acted as a university liaison to facilitate a number of technical industry presentations at various universities in Perth.

At CORE 2014 in Adelaide,  Jennifer presented her paper “Evaluating Passenger Journey Times through Smart-Card Demand Modelling” which demonstrated how transport authorities can better utilise data from smart-cards to improve passenger related performance. Jennifer is now working in operational planning with WSP/Parsons Brinckerhoff in the UK.
