THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2010 INDIVIDUAL AWARD IS MR. VINCE O’ROURKE OM IN RECOGNITION OF HIS MAJOR CONTRIBUTION TO THE AUSTRALIAN RAIL INDUSTRY DURING A DISTINGUISHED CAREER WHICH BEGAN WITH THE, THEN, NSWGR WHERE HE ROSE THROUGH THE RANKS TO THE POSITION OF GROUP GENERAL MANAGER FREIGHT IN THE STATE RAIL AUTHORITY OF NSW.
In 1990, Mr. O’Rourke became the Commissioner for Queensland Rail and, with the establishment of QR as a corporate body, he became the Chief Executive Officer, a position that he held with distinction until November 2000. On retirement from QR, he became Chairman of the Rail CRC Board until 2007. Presently, Mr. O’Rourke is Chairman of the Queensland Workplace Health and Safety Board, Chairman of The Great Australian Trunk Railway System Pty. Ltd., Chairman of Rail Innovation Pty. Ltd. and Non-Executive Director of Bradken Ltd. and Felix Resources.
