Michael Uhlig is a highly experienced and respected engineer and technical leader with nearly four decades of service to the Australian rail industry, specialising in rolling stock engineering, asset integrity and technical governance. Over the course of his career, Michael has held numerous senior engineering and leadership roles across organisations including Freight Rail, RailCorp and Transport for NSW.

Michael has played a key role in the development and harmonisation of rolling stock standards in Australia and has chaired the Rolling Stock Standing Committee of the Rail Industry Safety and Standards Board for many years, contributing to nationally consistent technical standards and interoperability across rail networks.

Throughout his career he has provided expert technical advice, led complex engineering investigations, supported major rolling stock projects, and mentored engineering teams, making a sustained and significant contribution to the safety, integrity and advancement of Australia’s rail system.
