Life Membership Award 2006

IAN MACFARLANE (DECEASED) WAS AWARDED THE LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARD IN 2006 FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE RTSA

 

Ian Macfarlane (1935-2007). Ian’s distinguished service to the Railway Technical Society of Australasia (RTSA) and the National Committee on Railway Engineering (NCRE) extended for over ten years and has included:

  • 1981, co author of the Bicentennial High Speed Rail through The Institution of Engineers, Australia with a new track between Goulburn and Yass coupled with a branch line to North Canberra
  • 1983, Chairman, National Committee on Railway Engineering (NCRE) of IE Aust and leader of many NCRE Study Tours on Railway Engineering, including to Europe and New Zealand.

Ian was the author of many technical articles and four books on rail safety published by Engineers Australia.
