Life Membership Award 2025

JOHN SYERS HAS BEEN AWARDED THE LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARD IN 2025 FOR HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO THE RTSA

The WA Chapter of RTSA was formed in 2000, with John a member of the inaugural committee. In 2001 John took up the position of Chapter Chair, a position he held for 8 years until his retirement from that position at the end of 2008. During John’s term RTSA WA events were well attended by railway industry professionals and participants with monthly presentations or site visits providing opportunity for discussion and debate. This engagement during John’s leadership created a healthy chapter and his succession planning efforts ensured that the chapter had the personnel to build on his successes.

His numerous contributions to the RTSA include:

  • WA Chapter Committee member – 2000 to 2011
  • WA Chapter Chair and National Exec. Member – 2001 to 2008
  • CORE 2008 Organising Committee Member – June 2006 to Oct 2008
  • WA Chapter Secretary – 2009 to 2011
  • RTSA Awards Sub Committee Member – 2010 to 2014
