Alan Bolton is a Chartered Civil Engineer with over 25 years’ experience working in Australia and the United Kingdom in design development and construction delivery of major rail and road infrastructure networks from inception through to commissioning, operating and maintaining assets. He spent nearly a third of the career in Queensland Rail, where he developed a broad understanding of Queensland Rail’s and Transport and Main Roads (TMRs) business and commercial arrangements, technical standards, specifications and requirements. Since then he joined AECOM in 2012, Alan has held leadership and management roles within major rail infrastructure projects with AECOM to achieve world class community integrated transport solutions such as the Moreton Bay Rail Link and Cross River Rail Projects. In Alan’s current role as Design Director on Cross River Rail: Rail Integration Systems UNITY Alliance, he is responsible for the design operations, project controls, project owner change management and design package delivery for the UNITY Alliance Team Alan has contributed to early career professionals by supporting and mentoring AECOM rail team members to achieve registered professional and chartered engineering status. He is also an active RTSA member, sitting as a member on the QLD chapter committee and Awards Subcommittee. Alan is a worthy recipient of this award.
