Young Railway Engineer Award Winners 2007

IN 2007, THE RTSA YOUNG RAILWAY ENGINEER OF THE YEAR AWARD HAS BEEN MADE TO TWO AWARDEES, MR. DANIEL MARTUCCI AND MR. BEHZAD FATAHI.

Mr. Martucci is Engineer, Rail Planning and Investment, in the Policy and Planning Division of the South Australian Department of Transport, Energy and Infrastructure and, in this role; he is involved in strategic planning for railways in South Australia including suburban passenger, regional freight and interstate main line transport. He graduated from the University of South Australia as a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) and holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree.

He is Secretary of the SA/NT Chapter of the RTSA and is a Special Interests Representative (designate) on the RTSA Executive Committee.

Mr. Fatahi is a PhD. Candidate and a researcher in the Centre for Geotechnics and Railway Engineering Research at the University of Wollongong and his doctoral research is associated with the potential improvements to soft foundations of railway track using native vegetation. He holds a Master of Engineering (Civil-Geotechnical) degree awarded by the Tehran University of Polytechnique, being top of his graduating class, and also is a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil), a Chartered Professional Engineer, a Member of Engineers Australia, a Member of the RTSA and a member of the Australian Geomechanics Society. He has written a variety of technical papers and articles.
