Young Railway Engineer Award Winners 2011
IN 2011 THE RTSA YOUNG RAILWAY ENGINEER AWARD HAS BEEN MADE TO TWO AWARDEES, MR. SEAN MYERS AND MR. WILLIAM STREET.
Mr. Sean Myers is a Project Manager-Rail with Parsons Brinckerhoff Australia Pty. Ltd. in Brisbane where presently he is involved in the Condition Monitoring Project for RailCorp. On graduation, he joined Queensland Rail for a period of eight years during which time, as a software and systems engineer in the Operational Systems Engineering Team, he assisted in the management of a large variety of projects principally associated with train control and information systems. In 2006, he moved to Parsons Brickerhoff where he has taken a lead project management role in a number of high profile rail projects including, notably, the Spark Erosion of Insulated Joints project for RailCorp and the Sydney Inner City Condition Monitoring Project. He graduated from Queensland University of Technology with a double degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) and Information Technology (Computer Science). He holds also a Diploma of Project Management awarded by the Global Institute for Training and Development. Mr. Myers is a member of the RTSA and a member of the Australian Institute of Project Management. He is a Certified Practicing Project Manager and a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland.

Mr. William Street is a Rail Engineer with GHD Pty. Ltd. in Melbourne who he joined following graduation. Since joining GHD, Mr. Street has worked on all of the aspects involved in the delivery of heavy and light rail infrastructure projects, from feasibility studies to detailed design and construction support. Amongst the most challenging of these projects has been the complex Domain Interchange on St. Kilda Road in Melbourne, the Wodonga Rail Bypass and the City of Greater Shepparton: Goulburn Valley Freight Terminal. Recently he has expanded his managerial responsibilities by taking up a mentoring role in GHD’s Melbourne office. He graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Engineering and Commerce double degree with honours. Additionally, Mr. Street is a Graduate Member of Engineers Australia and a Member of the RTSA.
