Young Railway Engineer Award Winners 2012

THE 2012 RTSA YOUNG RAILWAY ENGINEER AWARD HAS BEEN MADE TO TWO RECIPIENTS; MS. LUCY GARDNER AND MR. DANIEL THOMSON

 

Ms. Lucy Gardner is currently an Engineer with Arup Rail Systems Group in Brisbane. She graduated with a First Class Master of Engineering Degree from the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom. Ms. Gardner then joined Ove Arup and Partners Ltd. where she worked upon a number of high profile railway assignments in England and Scotland. Following this, Ms Gardner was employed by Ove Arup in Australia where she has been involved in a variety of projects, including Gold Coast Rapid Transit. She is a Chartered Member of both Engineers Australia and the Institution of Civil Engineers in the UK.

Mr. Daniel Thomson is Manager, Track Recording for RailCorp in NSW. Following graduation from the University of Technology Sydney with a Bachelor of Engineering Degree, he joined the RailCorp graduate programme. Subsequently, he was involved heavily in the development of the Mechanised Track Patrol (MTP) system with an expansion of operations and the procurement of new MTP vehicles as well as operation of the jointly owned ARTC/RailCorp AK cars. Mr. Thomson is a member of the RTSA and he has represented RailCorp at various university Career Days.
