Young Railway Engineer Award 2013

THERE ARE TWO RECIPIENTS OF THE 2013 RTSA YOUNG RAILWAY ENGINEER AWARD, BEING: MR. LIAM PALMER-CANNON AND MR. JONATHAN BARNES

Mr. Palmer-Cannon is a Senior Rail Engineer with AECOM in Melbourne. He graduated from Swinburne University of Technology with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons. 1st   Class) and currently is an Assistant Design Manager on Victoria’s Regional Rail Link. In 2008, he was selected for the Future Leaders Scholarship Program in China and, in 2009; he was a recipient of the RTSA Railway Engineering Student Thesis runner up award. Mr. Palmer-Cannon is the present Secretary of the RTSA Victoria/Tasmania Chapter Committee, Chair of the RTSA Professional Development Sub-committee and a Special Interest Representative on the RTSA Executive Committee. He is a graduate member of Engineers Australia.

Mr. Jonathan Barnes is a Graduate Engineer with RailCorp in Sydney with experience in a variety of forms of Asset Management, and he is a graduate of the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering. Mr. Barnes is the Chair of the Western Sydney Group of Engineers Australia as well as being a member of the Sydney Division of EA and Young Engineers (Sydney). Additionally, he is a member of the EA Sydney Membership Sub-committee and the Board of Engineering Practice. He performs an active role for RailCorp in the mentoring of interns and graduates with particular regard for workplace safety management.
