Young Railway Engineer Award 2014

THERE ARE TWO RECIPIENTS OF THE 2014 RTSA YOUNG RAILWAY ENGINEER AWARD, BEING: MR. SHANE DYER AND MR. SHAUN ROBERTSON

Mr. Shane Dyer is an Asset Manager with the Australian Rail Track Corporation in Adelaide. He graduated from the RMIT University with a Bachelor of Civil and Infrastructure Engineering degree and currently he is studying for a Master of Engineering (Asset Management) degree at Wollongong University.  In his current position he is responsible for the development of asset management plans & strategies for the infrastructure on the interstate East West Network from Kalgoorlie to Cootamundra and between Melbourne and Crystal Brook. He is a member of both Engineers Australia and the RTSA and he acts as a company mentor for Swinburne University Engineering students on Industry Based Learning Programs.

Mr. Shaun Robertson is an Engineer with Interfleet Technology Pty. Ltd. in Sydney. He is a graduate of the Monash University with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineer and Bachelor of Industrial Design and holds a Master of Rolling Stock Engineering. In his current role in Interfleet’s Rolling Stock team, he is engaged in a diverse range of projects including inspection and management of new rolling stock manufactured in China, the development safety arguments to support the introduction of rolling stock, refurbishment of passenger vehicles, standards authoring and engineering support to new light rail projects. Before joining Interfleet, Mr. Robertson was a design engineer at Downer Rail and part of the team that successfully delivered the world-class Waratah passenger train for operation on the Sydney network. He is a Chartered Engineer with Engineers Australia and a member of the RTSA.
