EA Thought Leaders Series (Webinar): What’s driving technological changes in transportation?

February 28, 2023 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm AEDT

About the event:

This thought leadership series takes a deeper dive into how we can support Australia’s shift to electric mobility. Namely, how do we reduce greenhouse gas emissions through electric mobility in the transport sector, which is the fastest-growing greenhouse gas emitting sector in the world, and what technology will be used to support this transition safety, efficiently, and reliably?

This webinar will focus on:

  • Railway infrastructure and technology in power electronics (e.g. GTO to IGBT, integrated auxiliary converters for high-efficiency systems, and digitalisation)
  • eMobility and performance and reliability improvement, retrofitting diesel mechanic to diesel-electric, advanced battery technology, safety and EU standards relative to LTO, the impact of ambient temperature on chemistry)
  • Transport modes (include low-voltage IEC motors, and traction converters)
  • What are the advancements and challenges in implementing electric powertrains, hybridized battery systems, and more electrified transport technologies in advanced systems

Referencing case study examples including an ABB and South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) case study on the recent SA diesel-hybrid train fleet conversion with ABB technology.

Who should attend:

This event is highly relevant for Rail transportation / Consultants, Government, Engineers, Operators, Project Managers, Sustainability Managers, Service Providers, train manufacturers and train developers/designers. You do not need to be an Engineers Australia member to attend.
