IEEE Event (Webinar) – COMMUNICATION-BASED TRAIN CONTROL (CBTC) 101 – Standards, Concepts & Architecture

The presentation will cover the following introductory topics:

  1. Define IEEE’s concept of CBTC based on the IEEE 1474.1 standard.
  2. Difference between moving block and fixed block signalling philosophy
  3. Describe the 3 building blocks that make up a CBTC system (ATO, ATP and ATS) and how they interact with each other
  4. Illustrate the different CBTC architectures used in the industry
  5. Summarize briefly the IEEE CBTC standards:
  • 1474.1 (CBTC performance and Function spec)
  • 1474.2 (User interface req for CBTC systems
  • 1474.3 (Recommended Practice for CBTC System Design and Functional Allocation
