Strategic rail planning can be defined as providing evidence-based advice to inform and influence key rail planning decisions during the early up-front rail project development and product definition phases. In this presentation, Julien Morizet will share his personal experience on strategic rail planning, based on projects he contributed to in Australia and internationally, aiming to deliver optimal customer experience. Participants will hear some “lessons learnt” that may apply to future developments of Australia’s rail network.

The presentation will be followed by catering and a networking session, providing guests the opportunity to expand their professional networks and connect with like-minded individuals.

Speaker: Julien Morizet CPeng, Senior Principal Rail Operations Planning Consultant, WSP Australia

Julien Morizet’s international experience covers the whole lifecycle of rail operations, including strategic planning, timetables design, and operations management in passenger and freight rail transport. Before moving to Australia, Julien held engineering, planning and operational roles in major railway companies in Switzerland, The Netherlands and France. Julien is now based in Brisbane and is involved in various Australian and New Zealand rail projects.
