TasRail Workship Site Visit
Overview
Join us for a brief presentation of TasRailβs operations followed by a tour of the main rollingstock workshop where you will be able to view locomotives under life-extension rebuild, major overhaul and routine maintenance. Come prepared with your questions which can include rollingstock, track infrastructure, signals, safeworking, or rail operations in general.
Learning outcomes
- Gain an understanding of design and maintenance procedures for rollingstock.
- Gain insight into the management and installation of track infrastructure and signals systems.
- Learn about safeworking practices and rail operations in general.

About the speaker
Simon Chandler, Signalling Asset Manager, TasRail
Simon graduated from the University of Tasmania in 1999 with a degree in electrical (power) engineering and has since worked in the power, rail, aviation and maritime industries. His lifelong passion has been in rail and has worked for over a decade with Pacific National Tasmania and TasRail. During this time he has worked in rollingstock and infrastructure maintenance, train operations, infrastructure capital works, signalling and network access.
