RTSA NSW/ACT Chapter Event: Visualising embodied carbon with a carbon twin – hybrid event

The RTSA NSW/ACT Chapter is pleased to announce our next technical presentation, Visualising embodied carbon with a carbon twin, will be held on Wednesday 11th December from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm, followed by networking. This is a hybrid event; an online and in-person event. For those attending in-person, prior to the start of the presentation, we will take a moment to recognise recent RTSA award winners based in NSW, and to announce the next RTSA NSW/ACT Chapter Chair and Deputy Chapter Chair. Refreshments and time for networking will be provided before and after the proceedings. For those attending online, the webinar stream will start at 6:00 pm.

Abstract

Minimising embodied carbon early on in the design stages of any infrastructure project is critical in meeting sustainability goals as well as reducing costs. Wilson Dai, Senior Track Engineer at Mott MacDonald, will be presenting Mott MacDonald’s Carbon Twin and how it is used to visualise embodied carbon within projects. Mott MacDonald were engaged by the Department of Transport and Main Roads in Queensland as a Technical Advisor for the Logan to Gold Coast Faster Rail project. This webinar will provide a demonstration of Mott MacDonald’s Carbon Twin, how it was used on the project and the importance of minimising embodied carbon. The speaker, Wilson Dai, is a senior track engineer at Mott MacDonald. He graduated in 2020 from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Hons) / Commerce (Financial Economics) degree. He joined Mott MacDonald in 2021 as a Civil Engineer in the Rail Team and is now specialising in track and alignment design. Wilson has approximately 4 years’ experience in the rail industry being involved in numerous rail projects, more notably contributing to the Sydney Metro West Concept design. Wilson also holds the deputy chair position for the RTSA NSW/ACT Chapter. To register for the event, please visit the Engineers Australia website. We look forward to seeing you there!
