WA Chapter Event: How to network and use LinkedIn for WA based young engineers in rail
Overview
Learn how to improve your networking effectiveness and your profile on LinkedIn (all with a railway focus!)
Railway professionals will share their experience on networking, building meaningful connections and harvesting mutually beneficial relationships whilst providing trips and tricks for the audience. The speaker pool will include experts in the social media space who will share their knowledge in building a strong professional presence on the LinkedIn platform. Professional photography will be on offer for attendees who wish to update their professional headshots.

About the speakers
Theo Vander Heyden, GradIEAust Engineering Officer (Rollingstock), Public Transport Authority
Theo is a young professional having worked two years for the Public Transport Authority as a student, graduate and now currently an Engineering officer in the Rollingstock branch of Transperth Train Operations. He graduated in 2021 from Curtin University in Mechatronic Engineering with First Class Honours.
Darryl Patterson, MIEAust, Principal | Director (Project Delivery, Transport), Arup
Darryl is a Principal at Arup with 24 years rail and transport planning experience in Western Australia, across Australia and globally. He has been involved in the planning and delivery of major rail infrastructure projects including Caboolture to Landsborough/Sunshine Coast rail, Gold Coast Light Rail Stage 1, Forrestfield Airport Link, and Morley Ellenbrook Line. Many of these roles have included leading early stage planning and demand modelling components. He is focused on the client relationship with the Public Transport Authority and believes in the value of collaboration, technical exploration through innovation and empowering diversity of opinion as some of many great networking opportunities.
Bindi Shah, Senior Analyst, Reserve Capacity (WA), Australian Energy Market Operator
Bindi is Resources and Projects professional with over 15 years of experience working with Major Australian companies in the rail, energy, mining, engineering, environmental and town planning sectors. She has a passion in stakeholder and community engagement with skills in developing communication strategies and providing training.
