WA Chapter Event: Level Crossing Removal project – Highlights and Viaduct Design
Overview
The Victoria Park-Canning Level Crossing Removal project is Perthβs first major elevated rail designed to remove at grade 6 level crossings. The presentation will focus on the viaduct design challenges and solutions implemented including the comparison of a superstructure U-trough and box-girder.

About the speaker
Wolfram Schwarz, Regional Executive and LXR Structural Lead – WSP Consultant
Wolfram is a Professional Engineer with over 22 yearsβ experience in designing and maintaining building and civil structures in Germany, Switzerland, Australia, and New Zealand. He has a passion for exploring new ideas and trialling non-conventional design solutions to build sustainable and cost-effective structures. His experience includes design of new bridges and refurbishment of existing structures. He has been in leadership roles in the design teams for the viaduct structures on the Armadale Line Upgrade Alliance and the cable stay pedestrian and cyclist bridges on the Causeway Link Alliance.
