NSW Event – Innovative Design and Construction for new Grafton Bridge Structures
October 22 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm UTC+10$30
The Bridge over the Clarence River Project in Grafton, NSW is nearing completion. The project comprises two complex bridge structures, namely:
- New Bridge over the Clarence River – a new 525 m long precast match cast segmental balanced cantilever bridge with 74 m spans
- A new rail bridge comprising a steel truss on a 47-degree skew to replace an older three-span reinforced concrete bridge
The seminar will present the innovative design and construction methods used for each bridge including a novel approach to segment erection, the use of four integral river piers and a heavily skewed steel through-truss.
Ken O’Neill leads Aurecon’s NSW bridges team and is a member of the Engineers Australia Civil and Structural Panel in Sydney. He has over 20 years’ experience in the design and construction of major infrastructure projects, particularly specialising in bridge construction. Ken was Aurecon’s design manager for the project from tender design right through to construction.
Brian Killeen is an Associate within Aurecon’s Sydney Bridge team and has over ten years’ experience in bridge design. He has worked on numerous projects in both Europe and Australia. Brian was the bridge design leader for the match cast segmental bridge over the Clarence River.
