Hope Island Station is a new “station in the sky” on the Gold Coast line, built on a viaduct across a floodplain with zero weekday possessions. The project demonstrates how outstanding design delivers exceptional construction, interface, and quality outcomes. The team overcame challenges rarely encountered in rail, including constructing motorway bridges within millimetres of new structures, pioneering OHLE designs to minimise isolations, managing earthworks affecting bridges on soft soils, and designing elevated platforms for wind-induced step gaps. Through collaborative delivery, Queensland Rail, CRRDA and AGJV transformed complex constraints into lasting benefits for passengers and the community.
