Event Overview

The session will provide a high-level overview of key Systems Engineering and Safety Assurance concepts, including the Rail Safety Assurance Framework, Systems Engineering Framework, Systems Engineering lifecycle processes, and the V-Model. A key focus of the session will be the relationship between project management and systems engineering. Attendees will learn how SESA supports project planning, risk management, quality management, stakeholder engagement, schedule development and work breakdown structures. The presentation will further explore how the application of Systems Engineering principles can reduce project risk, improve communication and information clarity, increase the likelihood of successful project delivery, and minimize the potential for schedule delays and cost overruns. Through practical rail industry examples, participants will gain a clearer understanding of how Project Managers and Systems Engineers can work together to deliver safe, reliable and efficient transport infrastructure projects.

This session will be beneficial for generally everyone, especially Project Managers and Graduate Engineers, as this session offers exposure to Systems Engineering principles and practices.
