In 2000, the RTSA Individual Award was made to Dr. Stephen Marich of the BHP Melbourne Research Laboratories for his outstanding works associated with railway research, particularly with regards to the heavy haul mineral railways of the Pilbura region of Northern Western Australia and internationally in Hong Kong and Singapore.
