RTSA Annual Scholarship
The Rail Scholarship is offered annually by the RTSA and it is open to applications from railway professionals and technicians who can demonstrate an on-going record of work in the rail industry in Australasia for at least two years prior to lodging an application and are desirous of attaining a higher level of qualification by attending a university course that is relevant to their work either at graduate or undergraduate level.
The principal review criteria for selecting candidates short-listed for interview by a panel selected from the membership of the RTSA Awards Sub-committee are: be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen or a permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand; be eligible to attend a suitable rail-industry related graduate rail-industry related course of study in Australia or New Zealand: have worked continuously in the Australasian rail industry for at least two years prior to lodging an application; extent of professional achievements in the rail industry; other contributions to the rail industry; potential to complete the chosen course successfully and expected benefits arising from the completion of the course.
The maximum value of the scholarship is A$10,000 or its equivalent in New Zealand dollars to contribute towards the university fees, text books and approved study materials which may be claimed at the end of the academic year. A certificate will be presented to the recipient of the scholarship at a meeting of the local RTSA Chapter and one year free membership of the RTSA will be offered to the recipient of the scholarship.
